Sodexho-Marriot, an international, multibillion-dollar corporation, took over operations of the campus dining services in 2001. The workers approached the Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) for help in forming a union in 2002 after Sodexho managers would subject employees to intimidation, reprimands and humiliation on the job. Nearly 100 workers voted to join CSEA in 2003. The CSEA is New York State's largest union.
