- Scope and Content:
The Harry Price Papers is roughly dated from 1949 to 1978. Items include correspondence, memorandums, and newspaper clippings. This collection is comprised mostly of lecture notes and class materials that were used by Price for his courses. In addition, this collection contains documents about the Junior College Program in Social Studies, proposal for the PhD Program, student seminar papers, and meeting minutes of various History Department committees.
- Biographical / Historical:
Dr. Harry S. Price taught in the History Department at the University at Albany from 1947 to 1979. Retiring in 1978, Price remained a Visiting Professor until 1979. Price earned his B.A. at Dartmouth College in 1938. Also in 1938, Price earned his M.A. at Columbia University Teachers College. After serving in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1945, Price earned his PhD at Columbia University Teachers College in 1953. Prices primary area of teaching was Social Studies.
