This series contains typescripts, reprints and clippings of articles by other authors, which in most cases were sent to Fried by the author. Many of the items are autographed and commented by the author.
This series contains newspapers clippings, magazine articles and other materials collected by Fried on topics of interest such as: nuclear weapons and disarmament, militarism, international law, and human rights. The collection also contains materials on countries and regions, such as: Cuba, Chile, Vietnam, Korea, Israel, Palestine, Iran, Micronesia and the Soviet Union.
Several incomplete sets of periodicals, most containing annotations by Fried were retained in the collection.
Series 14: Pamphlets 4 archive boxes, unsorted
The collection of pamphlets is extensive and contains pamphlets on most of the subject areas in which Fried was interested. These include: Vietnam and Southeast Asia, Nuclear war and disarmament, the United Nations and treaties, Somalia, Bangladesh, Cuba, Chile, Korea, Israel, Palestine and the Middle East, the Soviet Union, Human Rights, Rights of the Child and Women's Rights.
This series contains typescripts as well as some handwritten notes to lectures delivered by Herz at universities in the U.S. and Germany, as well as at conferences and seminars. In addition to Herz's lectures, this series also contains additional conference materials and papers delivered by others. Herz's teaching materials, including syllabi, reading lists, examination questions and lecture notes are also found in this series.
This series contains primarily reprints sent to Herz by colleagues, but also contains some typescripts of conference and other papers. Represented in this series are a substantial collection of publications by Ernst Otto Czempiel, Ossip K. Flechthiem, Gerhard Herz (brother of John Herz) and Otto Kirchheimer.
This series contains audio tapes of the Human Survival Symposium organized by Herz in 1988 at C.U.N.Y., audio tapes of the 1998 reception given in Herz's honor, and a copy of the video From Swastika to Jim Crow (1999), in which Herz and other scholars who taught at black colleges are featured.
