Records that document the history of the University at Albany, SUNY and its predecessor schools.
The University Archives documents the history of the University at Albany, SUNY from its origin in 1844 as the New York State Normal School to train teachers for New York State to its present status as a comprehensive research university. The department collects, manages, and provides access to permanent university records for research use. This includes the administrative records of the university, student groups, faculty, alumni, and affiliated organizations. Collecting and preserving university records documents our history and promotes transparency and accountability.

This series is useful for finding cursory sports team information, with files including team rosters and schedules with some including game results or statistics for the individual sport as well. These files contain basic information for men's and women's athletic teams each academic year spanning from the 1992-1993 season to the 2008-2009 season. The records were originally maintained in binders by the Athletic Department according to men's sports and women's sports for each year available. Not every year includes files for every sport. Collective yearly athletics schedules are occasionally included. In some instances, personally identifiable information and/or sensitive material was redacted to protect the security of individuals mentioned.

This series covers detailed files previously maintained by the University at Albany Athletics Department related to men's and women's sports that include schedules, game scores and results, statistics, correspondence, records, articles, rosters, tournament information, itineraries, individual game files, game programs, reports, budget information, memoranda, scorebooks, sports guides, and news. Specific files may encompass the records of a team's whole season, part of a season, an individual gameday, or be player-specific. Early records in the series were retained by the Director of Athletics Alfred Werner, and Coordinator/Associate Director/Director Joe Garcia. Later records were retained by Sports Information Director Brian DePasquale. In some instances, personally identifiable information and/or sensitive material was redacted to protect the security of individuals mentioned.

These records are most useful for finding basketball game statistics and team statistics and notes for men's and women's basketball games played from 1989 to 2012. The detailed files were originally organized in binders by the Department of Athletics according to men's and women's team basketball seasons, and cover the ins and outs of each season. The files for each year provide an in-depth look at the players and their schedules. Files may contain rosters, statistics, schedules, results, game notes, player highs and lows, box scores, team histories, tournament information, charts, media and press, articles, travel itineraries, contact information, forms, emails, event notices, contracts, correspondence with Sports Information Director Brian DePasquale and more. In some instances, personally identifiable information and/or sensitive material was redacted to protect the security of individuals mentioned.

These records are most useful for finding football game and team statistics and notes for the football seasons of 1994 to 2010. These detailed files were originally organized in binders by the Department of Athletics and Recreation in summary for each season, and are a good resource for finding specific game information. Files contain rosters, statistics, schedules, scoring summaries, game notes, charts, media and press, articles, travel itineraries, contact information, football training camp papers, forms, emails, event notices, football news, and more for each season. Eastern College Athletic Conference Sports News, Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette, and Northeast Conference press releases are featured. Correspondence with Sports Information Director Brian DePasquale is included. In some instances, personally identifiable information and/or sensitive material was redacted to protect the security of individuals mentioned.

This series contains media guides, brochures, magazines, flyers, conference guides, pamphlets, promotional works, athletics reports, handouts and associated published materials related to intercollegiate sports, University at Albany Athletics, and opponent schools. Game notes, schedules, or related game day materials are included with some tournament and game day programs and guides. Responsibility for creating University at Albany sports publications rested with the community/University Relations Office. Materials span from 1959 to 2019, with the bulk pertaining to the 2000s.

This series contains photographs, slides, negatives, posters, and more related to UAlbany athletics. University at Albany sports team photographs and player headshots are available. Images of teams, fans, campus, events, matches, games, practices, and more can be seen in this series. Game-day action shots of UAlbany's teams and opponent teams are included. Both physical and born-digital materials were retained by the University for viewing.
