Principal Oliver Arey’s Resignation Accepted By The Executive Committee On January 8 Effective As Of The End Of The Term.
1867 January 8
Principal Oliver Arey’s resignation accepted by the Executive Committee on January 8 effective as of the end of the term. Arey's term as principal was marked by a dispute with the faculty led by Professor Rodney Kimball, the nature of which remains unclear. Multiple teachers submitted "papers" documenting charges against Principle Arey in early 1866 and multiple teachers resigned. The end result was that both the charges and Principle Arey's rebuttals were withdrawn from the Executive Committee minutes before Arey resigned.
