Honorary Degrees awarded for the first time since the 1920's at Commencement. Permission given by SUNY Board to award honorary degrees. First recipients at SUNYA are Domaso Alonso, poet, author and professor emeritus at the University of Madrid, Isaac Bashevis Singer, a Nobel Prize winner in literature, and Arthur M. Bueche, a General Electric vice president and former chief of the research and development center.
