Shirley Chisolm, who in 1968 became the first black woman elected to Congress after winning the seat for New York's 12th Congressional District, speaks at a convocation in honor of EOP students who have made high academic achievements.

The Albany Freshman Basketball team, led by 15 points from Dan Cokely, an EOP student who was newly eligible to play after sitting out games during his first semester, easily defeats Hobart by a score of 60-45.
