Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) member, Kathy Filkins on her new housekeeping job at Capital District Psychiatric Center. Filkins had been employed at the CDPC in Albany, NY, as a mental health therapy aide for 20 years until an attack at the hands of a patient put her out of work for nearly two years. She is now back to work at the Center thanks to a joint effort between labor and managment.
Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA)'s first-time AFSCME Delegates pose for a picture at the San Francisco convention. More than 200 CSEA elected delegates led the way as part of AFSCME's 38th International convention. CSEA is AFSCME's largest affiliate. Delegates debated and acted on scores of issues and resolutions and heard inspiring speeches from presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton and former Vice President Al Gore, among others. Delegates also attended numerous educational workshops, forums and other events to share perspectives and ideas with union members from across the country.
Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA)'s Finger Lakes DDSO workers Elisabeth Brundage, Jennifer Knorr and Mary Abrams recently graduated from a licensed practical nursing program provided to them through the NYS-CSEA Partnership. The program included a distance learning LPN Skills Refresher course provided to students through the CSEA WORK Institute. Statewide, eighteen CSEA members participated in the recent program, with other workers coming from the Central and Southern regions.
Harry Albright discusses his experiences withthe Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA)during a 2005 interview for the CSEA 100 History project. Albright, who served as counsel to CSEA from the mid-1950s until the mid-1960s, passed away in October, 2008.
