Tim Reilly was a professor of English at the University at Albany, SUNY when he was elected president of UUP in 1987. He served as president from 1987 to 1993. Reilly had been a chief union negotiator and chaired the Negotiations Committee, and was credited with winning TIAA-CREF pension reform. He was also a vice president of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and a board member of New York State United Teachers (NYSUT).
