Thirty-two CSEA activists from across the state completed the first-ever CSEA LEAD program, an intensive, 18-month program to help emerging union activists gain the skills and knowledge necessary to better address the challenges facing the union at every level.

CSEA members and village workers attended the second annual Suffern Day festival this fall, armed with fliers informing the public about the Village of Suffern mayor's anti-union efforts. The mayor lost in the 2005 elections. Village workers looking to organize under CSEA worked to oust Mayor James Giannettino from office after the mayor repeatedly rebuffed their union-forming efforts.

Marshall was involved in an incident in May 2004 where an 8 year old child was killed stepping off of a bus that he was driving. After the incident, Marshall became an advocate for school bus safety.
