- A news clipping from the Utica, NY Observer-Dispatch, about 80 local members of the Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) left the Utica Bus Terminal this morning for Albany where they will join delegations from Long Island, New York City, and Albany in a protest demonstration. Target of the demonstration is J. Earl Kelly, state CSEA Director of Classification and Compensation, who this week rejected a CSEA proposal for salary upgrading of state office and clerical employees. Special guests included Louis Sunderhaft, Oneida County Chapter president; Dr. Theodore Wenzl, New York State CSEA president; Joseph Dolan and Joseph Lazarony, of the organization's state County Division; John Scholl, Oneida County CSEA attorney; Mayor Michael Caruso of Utica; Mayor William Valentine of Rome; Jay McLinden, Assistant County Executive; and William R. Williams, board chairman of the Oneida County Legislature. Ray Castle, former president of the Central Conference of CSEA, served as master of ceremonies, and Lewis Eddy and Henry Haas served as co-chairmen of the dinner.
