Thomas Matthews (left) and an unidentified man associated with United University Professions (UUP). Thomas Matthews was UUP Treasurer from 1981 to 1988, UUP Vice President for Professionals from 1992 to 2000, was on the Executive Board from 1988 to 1992, and was UUP Chief Negotiator for the 1995 and 1999 contracts. This photograph was taken during a merger meeting between the Senate Professional Association and State University Federation of Teachers, which lead to the creation of UUP.
