The New York State Modern Political Archive (NYSMPA) was established in 1982 to document the work of individuals and private interest groups concerned with New York State public policy issues in the 20th century. Originally named the Archives of Public Affairs and Policy, the NYSMPA collects, preserves, and facilitates access to primary sources pertaining to New York State public affairs and policy, and now includes the personal papers of members of the gubernatorial administrations of Nelson A. Rockefeller; papers of former New York Congressional members and elected officials who served in New York State Legislature; and the official records and papers of numerous private groups, professional associations, individuals, public-sector labor unions, community groups, and other organizations concerned with Empire State public-policy issues.

This series includes publications by organizations other than the Environmental Clearinghouse, Inc. Newsletters includeEcho Issuespublished by the Environmental Clearing House Organization, Buffalo Museum of Science, Room 216, and issues ofNew York State Environmentpublished by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. The bulk of the latter concerns 1979-1984 with one part of an issue dating from 1976 and one whole issue dating from 1989.

This series consists of various papers ranging from a few items concerning Alice Green's role in the NAACP's Albany branch and as founder and Executive Director for the Center of Law and Justice, but the majority of the series is relating to her life with her family, including a collection of mentions of her son John A. Green's accomplishments. Highlights of this series include a photograph of Alice Green from the 1960s, race results and other items relating to her running hobby, and Johnnie Cochran's autograph on a menu from a dinner of the One Hundred Black Men of Albany, New York.

This series contains copies of the society's newsletter – later known as "The Clinician" – dating back to 1974, as well as publications circulated by local chapters. The NYSSCSW newsletters often contain a President's Message, ACE Foundation News, information on continuing education programs, Committee and Chapter reports, plus clinical articles and book reviews.

The Administration series contains the records of the Board of Directors and the Association's budget reports. These dates are not inclusive. The Board of Directors records (1968-1994) contain letters of nomination, directions to the association for making important decisions and changes, meeting minutes, agendas, correspondence, expenditures, and actions taken on meeting resolutions. The budgets cover most every year, but are not inclusive as some years are missing. The budget records include charts and estimates, budget proposals for the coming year, and legal issues regarding the allocation of funds.

Contains the records of the Coalition's annual meetings, and special meetings on topics of interest to criminal justice reformers organized by the Coalition. The series also contains statements of goals and purpose, minutes, agendas, by-laws, proposed amendments to the by-laws, strategy suggestions, and several questionnaires directed for committee members. Also included are lists of organizations by caucuses in geographic regions, lists of the individuals in the different caucuses, and attendance at meetings. Notes of the executive and policy committee are available, they mainly include discussion of sub-committees work, and confirming new policies. The file also contains information on the Coalition's 1979 SuperSession, a two day agenda devoted to a discussion of topics such as good time, temporary release, and the death penalty. Super Sessions were also held in 1980 and 1981, where the main topics were inappropriate confinement and community corrections. Series also contains cassette tapes of panel questions from March 22-23, 1982, "Managing the Crisis: Population Policy".

This series contains material related to the various commissions and committees created to prepare for and host the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York. Such groups include the Lake Placid Olympic Bid Committee, the Temporary State XIII Olympic Winter Games Commission, and the New York State 1980 Lake Placid Olympic Winter Games Commission. Materials represented include reports, correspondence, appointments, memoranda, minutes, finances, and clippings. Where the original order identifies the specific committee responsible for a record, this order has been maintained. Many folders, however, contain papers involving the records of more than one committee, and sometimes the specific committee responsible for a record cannot be identified. In these cases, folders are identified with the generic title of "Olympic Winter Games Commissions." In addition, the heading "Olympic Organizing Committee" designates records pertaining to the Lake Placid's 1980 Olympic Winter Games Organizing Committee and its subcommittees, which include Transportation, Security and Public Affairs. This series contains materials used for Lake Plaid's Olympic bid. Proposals and agreements with architects and contractors can also be found in this series as well as Olympic pins, programs, tickets, and employment information.

This series is related to Citizen Action's involvement in social, racial, economic, and enviornmental justice. The first sub-series, lobbying, includes records relating to Citizen Action's advoacy and action. The second sub-series, subject files, includes records that supported Citizen Action's mission, but were produced by other organizations and individuals. This series does contain restrictions. Please consult an archivist before using the collection.
