- Scope and content:
- This series consists of the operational materials and records of the organization. Includes meeting minutes, mailings, and internal committee materials that were created, gathered and/or disseminated by the executive director, chairman, president, general secretary, and committee chairs of the Correctional Association. Other documents in the series include meeting agendas, memoranda, reports, membership statistics, and financial documents. There is a singular, bound book of the Executive Committee Meeting Minutes for 1867-1878 and is one of the few objects in the collection from the 19th century. The series also contains correspondence from, and with, incarcerated individuals concerning living conditions, health issues, facility transfers, abuse allegations, and post-release work arrangements. Furthermore, this series includes administrative materials from the Osborne Association when it was working directly with the Correctional Association as they shared the same Executive Director/President, Robert Gangi. Administration and Board of Directors who are identified include former Presidents Robert Gangi, Adam F. McQuillan and Dan Pochoda, former Chairmen of the Board George G. Walker and William T. Dean, and Board Secretary Marna Walsh. One of the letters (1985) directed to Robert Gangi was written by Jean Harris, who became interested in the special problems of female inmates and their children during her incarceration.

- Access to portions of Series 1, 5, 6, 7, and 8, is restricted as they contain personal identifiable information related to incarcerated individuals and others, and correspondence with incarcerated individuals. Restricted folders in these series are noted at the file-level, and requests to view these materials must be discussed with a staff member. Series 3 is completely restricted due to a large quantity of personal identifiable information of incarcerated individuals, and correspondence with incarcerated individuals throughout the series. Requests to view Series 3 must be discussed with a staff member. Consult a staff member for further details.
