OLD STANDARDS MAINTAINED
ON DRILL PRESS JOBS
Radial Drill Press Operators
in H-Bay, LSTG, win their grievance
on hood jobs,
; Recently, hoods were brought |
into the area for machining which-
are somewhat larger“than the cus-
tomary run of jobs.
Supervision informed the oper-
ators that the Drill Press Operat-
ions on larger hoods would be
considered new jobs, and, therefore,
new standards would be applied in
determining the pricing of the
drill press jobs, Needless to say,
this would result in the lowering
of the P.W. prices,
The Union representatives
immediately contacted Union Relat-
ions in Large Steam Turbine. At
the meeting the Union negotiators
contended that there was no jus~
tification in this particular case
to apply new standards in setting
.prices. The operators, the Union
contended, continued to use the
same method and procedures in the
drill press operations on the
larger hoods that have been applied
on the smaller jobs.
The Union negotiators insisted
‘that the old standards be used in
establishing P.W. prices. Following
several other meetings, the Company
agreed to use the old standards
for the purpose of pricing...
This is another exanple of the}
“settlement of a complaint without
the need of a formal grievance,
The following Union represen-
-tatives were -instrumental in re- ~~
solving this case: Board Member
Podell, Shop Steward Banaszewski |.
and Coordinator Vitallo. os
