NOTICE OF REFERENDUM
We have ‘ust received word: from the Natdonal that dhe anes s 2
ments to the National Const itutiot of the’ IUE have all beer ratified
by a majority of the Locals. The Bighth Amendment (Article XVI,
Section E) reads as follows:
"THE MINIMUM MONTHLY DUES SHALL BE FOUR DOLLARS ($4.00);
PROVIDED THaT EVERY LOCAL AFFILIATED WITH TUE IN 1960
WHOSE MONTHLY DUES ARE LESS THAN FIVE DOLLARS ($5.00)
SHALL HAVE ITS MONTHLY DUES RAISED NOT LESS THAN
SEVENTY-FIVE CENTS (75¢) EFFECTIVE JaNUARY 1) 1961."
We understand that under the new Federal laws a local union
annot increase its dues without a referendum by secret ballot of:.the
enberstiip in good standing. Therefore, at the same time a d place”
that the election of of ficers will be held, December 8th an Oth, a
baklot will. be distributed to each member so that he can vote whether
or not he is in favor of the 75 cents dues increase, .

four dollars ($4.00); provided that
every Local apetisnted with IUE in
1960 whose monthly dues are less
than five dollars ($5.00) shall have
its monthly dues raised not less than
seventy-five pene (75¢) effective
