INSULATED MATERTALS DEPARTMENT
TO REMAIN IN SCHENECTADY»

The General Electric Company has just
announced plans to locate its Insulated
Materials Department in Schenectady rather
than transfer the department out of town
as was formerly contemplated,

We in the Union are very happy with
this decision because it not only means
keeping the present jobs in Schmectady but
may provide additional jobs for the future,

WE IN THE UNION FIRMLY BELIEVE that
Schenectady has as much to offer in
facilities necessary to manufacture almost
any product as any other community’ in our
country,’ We have the skilled help, the
know-how, the manpower and all the other
necessary requisites to produce a wide
varlety of products, We also haye the
advantage of "nearess to markets" since
close to 70% of GEts customers are within
easy range of Schenectady,

We have always advocated that moving
work out of Schenectady was not justifiable
because Industry has the same opportunity
to compete here as well as in other

, communities,
