Shop stewards at their monthly
meeting Tuesday night voted
unanimously to call on all groups
of members to organize to bring
out a large vote,-—regardless of
what candidates they may be vot-
ing for,—to show support for the
union and ‘insistence that GE live
up to its contract.
5 Running for Chief Steward
The principal contest is for the
position of chief shop steward.
Five candidates are running for
this key post: Board Member
James Cognetta, Shop Stew-
ard Rudy Rissland, Alfred Pelrah,
former assistant ording secte-
tary; Shop Ste ‘Walter Knif-
fen, and James DeMasseo. In addi-

Carey Claims Exploding
The “Imitation UE" boys in
Schenectady this week themselves
proved the falseness of their
claims about signing up a major-
ity of the 801 membership.
A group of the Carey agents
appeared at, the 301 office Tues-
day night and handed in 1,942
claimed revocations of the check-_
off. These 1,942 names were all
they could dig up right up to the
last minute. .
Two weeks ago the Sehenec-
ludy papers printed the Carey
boys’ claim that they had 7,000
members. Since then they claimed
a majority of the plant.
The BU. News last week. stated
correetly that the rump group had
been able to round up less than
2,000 members.

A television will be awarded as
a prize at a Local 301 dance on
Saturday night, Dee. 17, at the
union hall, The dance will start
at 9 p.m. and the drawing will
be at 10.
People who bought the donation
tickets to help finance the Local
301 children’s Christmas party are
eligible to win the television set.
The donation tickets will also
serve as tickets for the dance. ©

whose names were on the revoca-
tion forms submitted dy the
“Imitation. UE” have. .told. the
union that they cither signed the .
revocation because facts were mis-
yepresented to “them, or -because

‘the only candidate for president.
Three other men were nominated
but did not accept: Board Member
Cognetta, Shop Steward Joseph
Aschenbach and Board Member
Joseph Kelly.
