- These records, which constitute the bulk of the collection, consist of informational and issue files relating to health care topics affecting seniors in New York State. Significant topics addressed include Medicare, Medicaid, Medigap, Long-Term Care, Nursing Homes, DRG (Diagnosis-Related Groups), PROs (Peer-Review Organizations), HMO (Health Maintenance Organizations), the IPRO (Island Peer Review Organization), and others. Files hold information on state and federal health care legislation, the campaign for a national health care system in 1992-1993, the fight for prescription drug coverage for seniors in the state (EPIC) in 1986, and other issues. They include testimonies given before legislative bodies, reports, articles, booklets, legislative bulletins, memorandums, manuals, training material, and correspondence on various topics.
