CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting of the Schoharie Land
Trust Board of Directors was called to order by Ken
Hotopp at 7:45 PM at the Cooperative Extension Office
in Cobleskill on 15 August 1991.

PRESERVATION SERVICES FOR N.Y.: Grants from this
source require 501c3 status. Inquiries may
be submitted from September to March. An
informal letter of inquiry
describing the project should be submitted in
advance of a formal application. They provide
start up and general operating funds. They have
provided $5,000 to $10,000
to new land trusts.
PRESENTATION TO LION'S CLUB by Ken Hotopp to be
in September DUTCH BARN PRESERVATION SOCIETY: The
DBP Society said that if
there is a Dutch Barn on property the Land
Trust acquires and the Land Trust cooperate
with them, they will list the Land Trust as
a resource.
ACRES POWER PROJECT: The Goozes gave an
informative presentation on the Acres power
project plans in Gilboa.
INNOVATIVE GRANTS PROPOSAL has no money for Board
training. They also require 501c3 status.
501C3: The paper work is largely finished. It
will cost $150. Still needed are; an
official Certificate of Incorporation
(application and the $10 fee has been made
to Dept. of State), an Employee
Identification Number.
LPEP: The proposal has been submitted and is
going ahead
on schedule.
HENRY TEPPER executive director of Columbia Land
Trust will meet with SLT members 2 PM 28
August 1991 at the Freindlys Restaurant at
the corner of Everett Road and Central
Avenue
BUDGET: A brief discussion of how large SLT's
annual budget should be came to a conclusion
of about $10,000.
PICKETT PROPERTY: The property do not include
Schoharie Valley Soil types, it would be
suitable to grow grain or hay. Some of the
property is to steep to
pasture or grow hay. The property is not suitable
for a dairy farm, but it could be certified
organic. There are 14 A. of woodlands. There was
a concern that Mrs. Pickett have adequate
financial council through out any dealing with
the SLT, she is in regular consultation with her
attorney. Four courses of action are open to the
SLT:
1. accept the property with the right to sell
part of
it off to finance the management of the
remainder.
2. accept a conservation easement only
3. accept the property to preserve and
manage
4. not accept the property
BONDING AND INSURANCE: No source for insuring the
Board has come to light except for the Land
Trust Alliance.
NATIONAL ALLIANCE ANNUAL RELAY will be held in
Waterville Valley September 21 through 25.
A motion made by Karl Westphal was seconded
and passed unanimously.
Karl Westphal moved, it was seconded, and passed
unanimously, that the SLT pay actual costs
up to $300 for one member or up to $400 for
two members to attend the Rally.
EXCUSED: John Townsend will not be able to
attend the next meeting.
MINUTES of the 18 July 1991 meeting were
approved, as corrected.
NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be on the
third Thursday as usual, 19 September 1991,
from 8 pm to 10 pm at the Cooperative
Extension Office, Cobleskill.
ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned
at 10:15 pm.
