GAINESVILLE (AP) — Carole
Bundy, wife of convicted murderer
Theodore Bundy, has given birth toa
baby girl, an employee of a private
birth center said Wednesday.
Mrs. Bundy gave birth to the baby
Oct. 24 at the Birthplace, a large two-
story home on a palm-lined residen-
tial street, a secretary said.
Nurse-midwives assist deliveries
in what is called “a family-centered
environment.”
Bundy, convicted of three slayings
in Florida, has been on Death Row at
Florida State Prison in Starke since
July, 1979, except for a trial in Or-
Jando last year. When Mrs. Bundy’s
pregnancy was first reported more
than a month ago, she refused to con-
firm whether Bundy was the father.
Mrs. Bundy left only:a post-office
box with the Birthplace and couldn’t
be reached for comment.
“She lives near the prison,” said
schoolgirl Kimberly Diane Leach.

Death Row inmate Theodore Bundy is appar-
ently the father of a l-week-old baby girl. His
wife, Carole, gave birth to the baby last Saturday
in Gainesville at Birthplace. , ‘.
Bundy, who has been convicted of three kill-
ings in Florida, has been on Death Row at Florida
State Prison in Starke since July 1979 except for a
trial in Orlando last year.
Mrs. Bundy earlier told a reporter. for the
Orlando Sentinel Star that she lives near the pris-
on and sees Bundy frequently in the prison visit-
ing park. Physical contact is prohibited and Mrs.
Bundy has said “it’s nobody's business” how she
became pregnant. _
When asked if the baby was conceived while
on Death Row, Vernon Bradford, Department of
Corrections information director, said, “We don’t
believe it was, period.”
Birthplace is a birthing center in which nurse-
midwives deliver the babies. Judy Levy, co-own-
er, declined to give any details, citing patient
confidentiality. .
The Bundy’s were married in court Feb. 9,
1980 while Bundy was on trial for the murder of
12-year-old Lake City schoolgirl Kimberly Diane
Leach,
He was also convicted of first degree murder
in the Jan. 15, 1978 killings of Margaret Bowman,
21, and Lisa Levy, 20, at a Florida State Universi-
ty sorority house in Tallahassee.
