NeeeThe last military execution that took place
at Lexington during the (Civil) waroccurred on
the 18th of the same month (August 18, 1865)
When John I, Bishop, Charged with KEEHXXXXpHx
being a guerrilla, was hung, by order of Gen, d.
Se Brisbin. He died, protesting his innocence
of the charge, claimed that he had been a con-
federate soldier, and died, declaring: 'If L had
a thousand lives, I woulda Willingly give them
all for the cause I have honestly fought for,!"
