der of Mrs. Alice White, with George St Clair; St Clair
ran a "speakeasy" at  Ballinger's Court near llth and
Races Mrs. White."stole"™ beer from St Clair and a

quarrel ensueds murder occurred on Christmas Day, 1898;

both Negroes; St Clair hanged one week previously;
