Otte, a white man, was a candy maker employed by a whokesale confect-
ioner in Buffalo, N. Y, An alcoholic, he abused his wife constantly
and was, in January, 188, arrested on a warrant which she had obtained
After his release from jail, he continued his drinking and the abuse
of the poor womane On Nov. 13, 188), he purchased a pistol and ammu-
nition with money obtained from pawning his watch and chain and spent
the night on the town, drinking and carousing. Early the next morn-
ing, he returned home and found his wife washing clothes in the back
yard. When she went into the house through the back door, he followed,
locked it, drew his KM# weapon and shot her six times. She fled to
the front part of the house and fell to the floor dead, The murder
