STOUT, Reuben
White, 28, farmer from’ Pewn, PA., shot for
murder at Indianapolis, Ind., Oct. 23, 1863,
Mustered into 60th Ind, Infantry on Feb. 25,
1862 and deserted on April 1, returning to
Indiana. On 3-1-1 863 shot and killed a
civilian, Solomon Huffman in Madison Township,
Carroll Co., Ind. Huffman a bounty hunter
was trying to arrest Stout. Stout arrested 10
days later and convicted at general court mar-
tial in Indianapolis presided over by ‘Yo. John
S. Williams on May 1. Séntened to be executed
on July ll, but received reprieve of 3 months.
