STEWART : Carl
Stewart, a 23-year-old Corsicana, Tex., black man went to the Austin
funeral home owned by a wealthy black, N. W. Rhambo, am 55-years-old,
on June. 21, 1932, and told the wealthy Rhambo who was known to carry
large sums of money at all times, that a relative had died BSAESXMS at
home about five miles from Austin. He and RAMA Rhambo left the
funeral home in Rhambo's sedan and Rhambo's body was found in his
wrecked automobile about 25 miles from Corsicana the next morning.
He had been severely beaten and then shot to death. He was killed
before the car left Travis County and Stewart was tried, convicted
and sentenced to die there. He was electrocuted at the Texas State
Prison on Dec, 29, 1933.
