Morrison, a Panhandle City, Texas, clergyman, was accused
of poisoning his wife with-strychnine after falling in
love with another wanted, _Granted a change of venue, he
was tried, convicted and s ntenced to hang in Vernon,

attempted to escape and overpowered a jailer. Morrison
urged the other prisoners to kill the lawman and when
the Governor received news of this he fefused to commute

the sentence. He was hanged on Oct. 27, 1899 at
