FLYNN , Lee

Flynn, a ll-year-old white McDowell, N. C., farmer, objected to his
wife's conduct and quarreled repeatedly about it. In the Fall of
1939, they were arguing and he completely lost his temper. Calling
to their 7-year-old son to "kiss his mother goodbye", Flynn dragged
his wife ihto the yard of their home and shot her. He confessed
the murder and was convicted and sentenced to die. Frior to his
execution, he was baptized in a bathtub at the State Prison, but
