ivans, a one-legged tailor, was employed in a Sandusky, Ohio, tailor
shop next door to a store owned and operated by John C, Ritter,

One night in the Autumn of 180, Evans had been drinking and called
Ritter to the doorway of his store and demanded that he be sold

more whiskey. When Ritter refused, Evans pulled a knife and stabbed
him to death, Se was speedily tried, convicted and sentenced to
die. On Sept. 30, 180, he was hanged in Sandusky.
