Blacks, asphyxiated NCSP (Sampson) December 13,
1946. See appeal: 39 SE (2nd) - 819-filea in
NC-BOOK AND MAGAZINES EXCERPTS. Murdered one
John Allison by luring him into the woods under
pretext of selling him whiskey. There they
killed him with a shotgun and robbed him. A t th
time of crime, Matthews was 18 and ?Williams 17.

Hearn, citing CAROLINIAN, Raleigh, NC Dec,
14, 1946 (1:6) gives date of crime of Nov. 6,
1945; and issue of 12-21-1946 (1:1) reports
that Williams was 18 at BRKMA execution and
Matthews 19, Families to poor to pay for an
undertaker so bodies sent to metdcal school,
