"Laredo, Texas, March 15, 1912-J. B. Compton was hanged
here at 11 o'clock this forenoon for the murder of G. Jo
Levytauski, a crippled jeweler, on a night in last Decem~
ber. Campton's methods of trying to escape detection for
the crime were remarkable, In the commission of the crime,
he had an accomplice, Lonnie Franks. The mrderers robbed,
their victim of $1,000 to $1,500 worth of diamonds, Franks
fled, but Compton remained in Laredo, being one of the firs
to enter the jewelry store next morning in discovery of the
body and loudest in decrying the deed. ‘Well acquainted wit,
