20-year-old black man, electrocuted Ky, State Prison
(Barren County) on March 7, 192h. Charles H, Bybee dis-
appeared from his Glasgow home on 12-23-1923 and his body
was found under a pile of driftwood in Skages Creek near
there on Dece 30 by one of 2,000 members of a search par-
tye Chambers had been arrested on suspicion in his dis-
appearance and was taken to LougsSsville on Dec, 29 to pre-
vent mob action, He confessed there. Three bullet wounds
found in body and coroner expressed opinion that it had
been in water since disappearance, His coat and trouser
pockets had been turned inside out, but two $1.00 bills
in vest pocket overlooked by murderer, Chambers, also a
resident of Glasgow, had gotten married the day after the
disappearance and subsequently some of Bybee's Christmas
presents were found in his homeée
