SUGG, Samuel Calvin
from the Danville (Ky) Advertiser, May 25, 1826 (from a Henderson
Ky. newspaper)
"On Thursday the 4th inst. the sentence of the law was
executed on Samuel 0. Sugg for the murder of Elijah Walton.
During the time the guardswere forming for the purpose of
taking the prisoner from the jail to the place of execution
he being but entirely alone, committed suicide by hanging
himself. When the guard entered the jail he was discovered
Suspended to the grates of the window. Physicians were
immediately called in and gave their opinion that there was
considerable probability that the prisoner could be restored.
In this situation, the time having almost expired for. his
execution, he was taken from thence to the place designated
and there, if not previously, launched into eternity."
