"Bharleston, S. Ce, Sepe 1, 1759=Philip Johns, charged
with seditious and treasonable practices, had his trial
on Saturday last in Prince William's Parish, when the
evidence being very full and clear against him, he was
sentenced to be hanged on the Monday following (Aug. 27,
1759). He has accordingly been executed, But John Pen-
daevit, before the trial, made his escape from the officer
