Rose, alias Robert Taylor, was a 27-year-old white con-
vict who was serving time on the Albany, Ga, chain gang _
for attempted robbery, pointing a pistol and assault and
oe battery, escapéd with fellow McMichen who was ‘serving — wil
time for a misdemeanor. In the escape, Rose killed =
guard Tom Lew is. Recaptured, McMichen received a life
_ Sentence while Rose was _séntenced to die, He was elec-
trocuted on June 18, 1937. (The escape and lewis' murder
