was hung July 2, 1880, for murder of W. K, Spaulding,
committed July 2, 1879, near the town of Dodge, He met
his fate firmly, execution taking place shortly after 2
o'clock, Town was crowded with people, Had been sentenced
to die on May 12 by Judee W. D, Wood who was more affected
than the prisoner. His speech was hardly intelligible when
he came to the passage, tand may the Lord have mercy on
your soul,’ The condemned man was calm, remaining staning
on one foot while sentence was passed and when asked if he
had anything to say, answere quietly: "No sir, I have not,"
The murder was of the most cold-blooded type, Carter riding
