September 10th 1770:

"On Saturday the 25th last a Dutch boy about 16
years of age, servant to Mr. Lippincott near Haddon-
field, enticed his master's daughter, (a little girl
about 9 years old), from home under pretense of
gathering grapes, when he ravished and murdered her
and then buried her in a swamp where she was found.
He is since taken up and committed to Gloucester

available to contract business in 1771).

Ordered that the County Collector pay unto James
Kinsey Esq. the sum of 4-16-0 for prosecuting Peter
Mantle to conviction for the murder of Elizabeth
Tippincott at ay special Court.

Ordered that the County Collector*pay unto Dr.
Thomas Hardy the sum of 1-0-0 for attending Peter
Mantle, a king's prisoner.
