| As-a-young man, Usurey left his Hattiesburg, MisSe, home
| and went. to California where he was arrested for armed
robbery and spent 8 years in Folsom Prison, During this
) time, he convinced his aged mother that he was in the
Navy. After his release, he returned to HattLesburg and
obtained a job with the quartermaster's department at Fort
Shelby. His sister, Etta King, a 35-year-old widow KK
discovered his secret, and Usurey was afraid that she would
tell his mother, resulting hn his disinheritance. On the
Might of Aug. 3, 1943, he waylaid his sister and strangled
her to death with one of her stockings and hid the body
under a bride. Usurey confessed and was electrocuted on
March 23, 1915.
