"March 28, 1907-Charles Coleman, a negro, was hanged at

Magnolia, Mississippi, today for the murder of Iddo Dill-

ton, another negro. The hanging was public and Coleman

made a speech from the gallows, saying he was innocent,

and advising his hearers to stay away from bad companions,
He was pronounced dead in twenty minutes after the drop
