RANDOIPH, John
John Randolph was hanged at Waynesboro, Ga., on March
26, 1806, for murdering the Sheriff of Burke County.
Tbhe victim, Sheriff McNorrel, had gone to Randolph8s
farm to seize one of his negroes in satisfaction for a
legal garnishment. Randolph became incensed at this
and deliberately gunned down the sheriff when he
approached the aforesaid slave.
