HUDGINS, SIMPSON, ALLEN and LANDOIS 1842
nOn the evening of February 11, 182, as the schooner
San Antonio was anchored in the port of New Orleans, a
portion of her crew mitinied and murdered Lt, Fuller,
the officer of the deck at the time. They then fled
ashore, but were captured and tried by a court martial
held on the sliop-of-war Austin. The evidence presented
at the trial disclosed a concerted plan on the part of
the mitineers to seize threeof the vessels of the navy
and run them into Vera Cruze The ringleaders were con-
de ned to death and four of them named Landois, Hudgins,
Simpson and Allen were hanged to the yardarm of the flag-
ship at the "English Turn" in the Mississippi River."
