County) on July 6, 1909,

Joseph Dardano, an Italian. detective at Belfast, Allegheny
County, Dec, 31, 1907, was put to death in the electric
chair at Auburn today, The execution was remarkable for
celerity. Two shocks were used to kill. One lasted 3
seconds over a minute, The other shock was of less than 10
seconds! duration, Sanducci's crime was committed in the
presence of 50 people at the railroad station in Belfast
and was a sequel to the arrest of his employer, Michael De
Cicilo, on a charge of violation of the liquor tax laws,
the evidence of which was secured by Dardano and Albert Je
Mantica, private detective of Albany, The detectives were
just boarding the train to return to Albany when l, shots
were fired, Mantica was wounded in the head, but recovered
