DUNN, Howard and FARMER, William

Dunn, 20-years=old, and Farmer, 19~-years-old, were white natives of
Knoxfille, tenn, On Mafch 16, 1936, they had been drinking when they
were stopped by officers near the Tennessee State Reformatory for
questioning, They escaped and made their way to Nashville where they
met Jasper K, Milliken, a marketing official for the State Department
of Agriculture in front of the Bost Office and, at gun point, forced
him to drive them to a wooded area on Nine Mile Hill near Harding
Roads There, as Milliken pleaded for his life, Farmer shot and
killed him, They robbed his corpse of $1h, his shoes and some trinkets
and fled to Florida in his automobile, They were captured there
several weeks later when the ear was identified as being stolen,

Both admitted the murder and at their trial, they laughed and jeered
at the proceedings, They were granted a 30day stay of execution
while Dunn underwent two separate sanity inquiries, being found sane
in each, Dunn maintained an attitude of bravado until the end but
Farmer appeared visibly shaken and asked that he be allowed to speak
to Mrs, Milliken and personally ask for and receive her forgiveness.
This was not allowed and they were electrocuted at the Tennessee
State Prison on April 30, 1937.
