REAL, John- :

"John Real, a car-driver, on July 23, 1868, shot and kille
Patrolman John Smedick, of the East Thirty-fifth St, Stas,
at the corner of 32nd St. and First Ave, Real and Smed-
ick had previously had some difficulty. Real had made an
attempt to assissinate Smedick on July 1st in the same
year. He was convicted of murder, in the Court of Over
and Terminer, Feb. 10, X8X 1869, before Judge George G,
Barnard. Real was executed at Tombs Prison on Auge 5,
