Bouchard, a 46-year-Old white former paint salesman and
decorator had served sentences in the Washington State
Prison for robbery and San Quentin for grand larceny. In
Octe, 1939, he was traveling with two laborers from Van
Nuys, Calif., 32-year-old Ralph Atkinson and 28=year=old
Cyril L. Ables. Outside of Arlington, Wash.e, he killed
both of them with an axe and garrote and left their bodies
in the woods where they were not discovered until the next
March. Bouchard was caught shortly afterwards in Portland,

of the double murder and sentenced to han » he made no
effort to save his own life and told the Sovernor that he

did not want executive clemency. He was hanged at Washing-~
ton State Prison on Sept. 6, 1910
