field County, having served several terms in jail and on

on roads, killed Belcher, awaiting opportune time to attack
The evidence showed that Pierce held Belcher while Furby
struck him over the he ad with an axe which he procured
under the pretext of using it to chop down a tree, Both
escaped but Furby was captured after a hard chase while
Pierce was not caught until nearly 2 months later, Williar
Price, also black, who was said to have been implicated

and who also escaped, waa shot while being pursued by a
posse and died of his wounds, ;
