negro, paid with his life in the electric chair here early
Friday for the mrwer of another negro in his home county.
The stalwart negro walked to the death chamber shortly
after midnight and took his seat in the big oak chair, He
was strapped in by 3 guards and 2 minutes after he entered
the chair the first shock was administered. Two more foll-
owed in quick succession before the negro was pronounced
dead, Warden W. W. Waid said thenegro had hoped for exe-

cutive clemency almost to the last minute. He spent the
