Sharp, a slave, had escaped from bondage and made his way North
where 2 aes was captured by a slave drover, Robert Carlile of
Woodford City, Ky. KSEXXE Carlile was in the process of returning _
Sharp to the South and slavery when Sharp turned on him as they
passed through Washington, Pa., and killed him. Sharp was con=
victed of the crime and hanged at Washington on Nov. 21, 1828,
