Coe, David Douglass, the lone person ever hanged in

that county, met his death by being jerked upward, He
had been convicted of the murder of a "nameless roomnate
in a drunken brawl. As stated, 'the body was jerked up
instead of dropping downe' It is reported that the old
scaffold was stored for many vears in a barn and may sti}
be seen in the Lockport Museum."
