GRACE, William Antonio
Grace, 2 25-year-old white man, was a bigamist who had been married
to at least two women who he had deserted. His brother, John (Stran-
gler Jack), a one-time professional wrestler who had. held the New
England Welter-wWeight title, leanred of his intention to marry a
third woman and was determined to Stop it. The brothers met in a
priva te EXES#SSHXEXEK club room in Walden, N. Ye, early on the
morning of September 8, 1912, Strangler Jack told William that if
he planned to go ahead with his impending marraige later in the day
he would go to the girl and tell her that she was marrying a biga-
mist. An argument ensued duringxthe course of which William split
Strangler Jack's skull with a meat cleaver from the club's kitchen,
He then bobbed his brother's corpse to make it appear that had been

bride to New York City where they were married later that day. He
became a suspect when a man who had passed the club during the cousse
of the argument between the brothers told police that he had heard
Strangler Jack threaten to disclose William's past to the bride if
